Its Friday 26th June and that is National Take Your Dog To Work Day. A fun day that celebrates our love for our canine friends and would bring a smile to colleagues faces (as long as they like dogs that is) But when you dog has run over the rainbow bridge, memorial jewellery can be a way of having them with you every day.
Here at Ashes by Victoria we work with all kinds of ash from human and animal, the stories that come with each order are heart felt and often we can relate. When it comes to dogs, I personally have lost quiet a few in my life and each time a customer tells me about their loss, my heart aches for my pack too!
As its National Take Your Dog to Work Day, I thought I would share two items that have recently been completed. These memorial jewellery items are made to be work everyday which technically means every day the customers take their dogs to work with them.
Meet Darby, isn't she wonderful
Owner Victoria messaged asking if she could combine two of our designs (Unite Bracelet and the Bond Bracelet) for her and her husband to have a piece of Darby with them every day. We used the leather and the simple stainless steel clasp of the Unite Bracelet with a delicate glass stone of the bond bracelet. The glass just had to be black to honour Darby, the best black Labrador, and her pawprint engraved on the back We also made a Nomination Charm of a pawprint with Darby inside. Darby had a wonderful life, full of love and adventures, now she can be on adventures with Victoria and her husband for a very long time.
Another recent commission was Rowe a Bloodhound who had the best retirement life with owners Katy and Jason.
Katy is a professional dressage rider so we had to make sure the ring sat comfortably for her equestrian endeavours. The Inlay Ring is such an easy wear and it stacked beautifully with her engagement and wedding band (although Jason is not off the hook for an eternity ring that easily, as her Rowe ring fits her other hand too!) We matched the sandy tan colours with some bello opal for sparkle. However, I think I'll let the ring speaks for itself!
So no matter what the day is, our dogs mean so much to us that having a tiny part of them with us once they have finished with this world, is a great comfort. I often hear from customers, and I have experienced this myself, that when the memorial jewellery goes on you have a sense of calm and makes the grief a little but easier to deal with.
We celebrate all forms of life here at Ashes By Victoria and you do not need a specific day to enjoy your loved ones or pets. However, every day is Bring Your Dog To Work here with my current pair Maggie and Matilda (excuse the image of myself) who are always coming in the studio.
